    Our Vodka

We built a radical process from the ground up−a new way of making vodka that allows us to create intricate flavors, separate them with precision, and blend only the best into each batch.

    • Built in Brooklyn

Every piece of equipment used to make Industry Standard was developed in our laboratory, built and modified in our shop, and put to work right next door.

    • Made by nerds

A distillery is a lot of biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering; Industry Standard is the tasty application of our collective curiosities and interests.

    • Efficiency focused

We creatively adapt, reuse, and waste very little to ensure your drink contributes as little as possible to the eventual death of our planet.

    • Agile process

It’s very rare that we get something right the first time. The ability to change and reconfigure our process and equipment as we go is one of our greatest assets.

    • Blended by hand

Machines do a lot of work around here, but there’s one thing we don't trust them with. A human tastes every bottle that gets blended into each batch.

    • Rigorously tested

Our test batches, tastings and extensive in-house research all agree: Industry Standard tastes great. And we have the data to back that up.

Distilled from sugar beets on equipment we designed and built by hand right here in Brooklyn, NY, Industry Standard boasts a flavor profile as unique as the process we use to make it. The nose hints at subtle fruits, with layered complexity beneath. On tasting, light florals open up into a warm, smooth flavor and rich texture, and finish with delicious fruit notes, hints of vanilla, and a touch of spice.

    Tried and True Cocktails

Industry Standard is a vodka, but start mixing and you'll see in short order why most of the cocktails we feature aren't traditionally vodka based. There's a lot of new ground to cover here. We're constantly experimenting with new cocktails and we encourage you do to the same. And please, share your results.

    The Industry Martini

Want to try our vodka in a simple, time-tested classic? We recommend mixing your vodka and vermouth in an 8:1 ratio, so the nuanced flavors of Industry Standard really shine. Our favorite way to drink it is with a lemon twist.

    • 2 oz Industry Standard Vodka
    • 1/4 oz dry vermouth (our favorite is Dolin's)
    • twist lemon

Stir vodka and vermouth over ice until chilled and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a lemon twist and drink it up!

    The Industry Brooklyn

When Tea started making cocktails for Industry City, she wanted to showcase our unique flavors in this traditional whiskey cocktail. This is the first drink she ever made with our vodka: a drink that proves that a vodka with enough flavor can stand up to some pretty tough competition.

    • 1 1/2 oz Industry Standard Vodka
    • 1/2 oz dry vermouth (our favorite is Dolin's)
    • 1/4 oz Bittermens Amère Nouvelle (If you can't get this, use Averna with a dash of orange liqueur to mimic it)
    • 1/4 oz Maraschino (we use Luxardo)
    • twist orange for garnish

Stir liquid ingredients over ice until chilled and strain into a cocktail glass. Add your orange twist and enjoy!

    The Sunset City

Some very enterprising (or very bored) bartenders once designed a Brooklyn variation for every neighborhood in our home borough. We took bartender Vince Favella's version of the "Sunset Park" (we call it "home") and mixed up a variation that tastes great with our vodka. It's fruity and fun, but still spirit-forward.

    • 2 oz Industry Standard Vodka
    • 1/2 oz sweet white vermouth (we like Dolin's) or dry riesling
    • 1/2 oz peach liqueur
    • dash Cocktail Kingdom Wormwood bitters
    • twist lemon or peach slice for garnish

Stir everything but the garnish and bitters over ice until chilled and strain into a cocktail glass. Add a dash of bitters and your garnish. Cheers!

    Who we are

We’ve assembled our team from all over the country: a printmaking biological engineer and science nerd; a machinist with a bent for sculpture; a code-wrangling graphic designer and fabricator; a yoga instructor turned business manager; a hard-drinking commercial salmon fisherman and a whole lot of yeast.

Industry City Distillery is a project of The City Foundry and shares a 12,000 sq/ft space with the accumulated development and support systems the foundry provides. Not many distilleries have a laboratory, a machine shop, or a letterpress studio, but our operation wouldn't exist without them.
